Is Unison Care a registered company?
Yes. Unison Care is a registered incorporated company operating in Quebec and providing private-pay, non-medical personal care services for seniors.
What type of services does Unison Care provide?
Unison Care provides structured, private-pay, non-medical personal care services for seniors living in the West Island of Montreal.

Is Unison Care a home care agency?
Unison Care is not a full-service home care agency.
We provide supplemental personal care services designed to support families, companion caregivers, and residence-based care by offering focused visits without long minimum hour commitments.

Who is Unison Care best suited for?
Our services are best suited for seniors who:

Live in private homes, condominiums, retirement residences, long-term care facilities, or hospitals (short-term check-ins)
When care needs exceed our scope, we assist families with guidance toward appropriate care providers.
Do you serve seniors living with dementia?
Yes. Unison Care provides dementia-informed personal care services for seniors living with mild to advanced dementia, as long as the client remains able to bear weight and walk safely.
Extended time blocks are reserved for applicable services offered to allow for reassurance, redirection, and unrushed care.
Caregivers & Qualifications
Are caregivers trained and experienced in personal care?
Yes. Care is provided by certified PABs or experienced caregivers with a minimum of two years of experience in home care.
New caregivers complete orientation and supervised shadowing before working independently. The length of this period is determined by prior experience and demonstrated competency.
The owner of Unison Care is a certified PAB and remains actively involved in care, and overall quality assurance of the services being provided.
Will the same caregiver come each visit?
Caregiver consistency is prioritized to support comfort, familiarity, and trust.
If any changes are required, transitions are handled thoughtfully and communicated in advance whenever possible.
Do caregivers undergo background checks?
Yes. Background screening is part of the hiring process for all caregivers.
Are services available in French?
Yes. Services are available in both French and English.
Services & Scheduling
What services are provided during a visit?
Services depend on the visit type and may include 1 OR a combination of services:

Mobile foot care (nail trimming, skin care, hygiene)

Supervised bathing or shower assistance

Hair wash and blow dry

Hand care and basic foot hygiene

Dressing assistance

Wellness observation and safety checks (check-in visits)
How long are visits?
Visit lengths are fixed and scheduled in advance:

Mobile Foot Care: 60-90 minutes

Hygiene Support Visits: 90-120 minutes
- Quick Check-In Wellness Visits: 30 minutes
Unison Care does not offer open-ended or hourly block scheduling.
Do you offer extended or open-ended visits?
No. Unison Care operates on a structured visit model.
Families requiring extended hourly care or ongoing companionship are best supported by a traditional home care agency.
What happens if care is refused?
*Refusal can be a normal part of dementia-related care.
All visits are approached with patience, reassurance, and gentle redirection. If care is ultimately declined, the reserved time block remains billable due to travel, professional effort, and the commitment required to hold the scheduled appointment. We will do our best to re-schedule at the earliest time available to ensure that the proper hygiene care is provided.
Do you work on holidays?
Holiday visits may be available upon request, subject to caregiver availability.
If provided, holiday visits are billed at 1.5X the regular visit rate. For clients on annual packages, an additional holiday surcharge applies.
Appointments & Transportation
Do you accompany clients to medical appointments?
No. Unison Care does not provide transportation or accompaniment to external appointments.

Billing & Payments
How does payment work?
We accept the following payment options:

On-site payment via Square (credit or debit)
- Interac e-transfer

Can a family member be invoiced instead of the client?
Yes. A family member, Power of Attorney, or trustee to can make payment on behalf of the client.
Are receipts provided?
Yes. Receipts are provided upon payment completion. and may be used when filing income taxes to apply for Quebec’s Home Support Services Tax Credit and applicable federal senior tax credits.
