What Is Dementia Hygiene Care?
Dementia hygiene care is a structured, extended personal care visit focused on bathing and hygiene support while respecting cognitive changes, emotional responses, and the need for flexibility.
These visits are not rushed and are scheduled to allow time for:

Visit Length & Structure
• Visit length: 2 hours
• Visits are scheduled in advance

The extended time block allows care to proceed at a pace that supports dignity and reduces distress.
What the Visit May Include
Depending on the client’s tolerance and comfort level, the visit may include:
• Supervised bath or shower
• Full body wash
• Hair wash and drying
• Assistance with drying and dressing
• Bathroom clean-up following the visit

Understanding Refusal & Redirection
Refusal to bathe or receive hygiene care can be a normal and expected part of dementia.

If care is ultimately declined, the reserved time block remains billable due to:
